Rumen Stoichkov graduated in Bulgarian Philology and History at Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski" and has 30-year professional career as a journalist in the Bulgarian National Radio. For various programs and shows, mostly in Horizon, he is the author of more than 2000 reports, mostly in small settlements whose history and destiny have always excited him because they are not only regional but also a part of national memory, as he himself claims. That is why in this and in his previous four books you will find memories of Levski, Botev, heroes of the April Uprising, traditions and legends related to Tsar Samuil, Tsar Ivan Shishman, Tsar Kaloyan and so on. In this rich text and pictures you will see the creative genius of the Bulgarian man, his ability to survive, his wisdom, his sense of humor, the age-old resistance and hopes for a better life, no matter how sad sometimes they sound.
