Description

Todorov has not written a separate book about Bulgaria. But memories and reflections about the native country occupy an important place in his work. Although they are always an organic part of another whole - the relevant study - grouping them under the general rubric "About Bulgaria" is possible and desirable. So I chose the most important texts about Bulgaria, which Todorov left. A year before his death I showed him my selection. He approved the idea and the texts for the future collection. I contemplated it as so the Bulgarian reader can get a more complete idea of Todorov's ideological and emotional connection with Bulgaria.

I did not intend to include in the book all the lines about Bulgaria left by Todorov. This book is not an archive document. Its ambitions are smaller, as long as they do not claim to be comprehensive but at the same time, these ambitions are bigger because they offer the key and basis for interpreting one of the great thinkers of our time. And to bring him closer to us, his fellow countrymen.
