Description

Hristo Matanov is a professor at the Faculty of History of Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski". He lectures on Medieval History of the Balkan Peninsula. This book is based on his lectures to students of History, Archaeology, Past and Modern History of Southeast Europe, History and Philosophy, etc. He has specialised in Germany as an Alexander von Humboldt Foundation Fellow, in the USA and in Greece. He is the author of several monographs, including "The Southwestern Bulgarian Lands in the 14th Century", "The Principality of Dragashi. Towards the History of Northeastern Macedonia in the Pre-Moman Era", "The Emergence and Shape of the Kyustendil Sandjak in the 15th-16th Centuries", "In Search of Medieval Times. The Unequal Way of the Bulgarians (VI-XV century)", "The Sunset of Medieval Bulgaria" (two editions). Together with Rumyana Mihneva he wrote the monograph "From Gallipoli to Lepanto. He is the author of many articles published in prestigious Bulgarian and foreign journals.  He is co-author of many textbooks and teaching aids.


He is currently working on the monograph "This World is a Stage. Medieval Essays on a Monologue by William Shakespeare", which is nearing completion.
