Spartacus is one of the most appealing personalities in ancient history because of his indolent thirst for freedom of all people. He pursues this ideal tirelessly and stubbornly - with some unquenchable fire - throughout the rebellion led by him. If we look at the source data, none of the ancient authors remained indifferent to his merits and none of them speaks a bad word about him, unlike their opinion of the slave’s movement as a whole.
The image of the Thracian continues to live until today and will live in the future through literature, art, music, and movies. It is enough to mention here only the famous novel by Raffaello Giovannielli, the ballet of Aram Khachaturian, Stanley Kubrick's film, and in the mass culture, especially in socialism, the name Spartacus refers to factories, enterprises, athletic societies, sports teams, etc. His personality is indeed a unique phenomenon, whose name will sound over the centuries like the bell - the bell of freedom.
