"Man and Superman" shows Shaw's wit in its most brilliant form. By rearranging the elements of the legend of Don Juan, he created a four-act play that can be seen as a simple comedy of manners, but is in fact a manifesto of Nietzsche's philosophical ideas about the "superman" and a classic revelation of the eternal struggle between the sexes.
"The Doctor's Dilemma" is a classic satire of the medical profession, which addresses the current problem of providing adequate health care. In this play, a doctor who has discovered a cure for tuberculosis is faced with the difficult decision of whether to save his poor colleague and friend, or the rich but unpleasant husband of the woman he is in love with.
