Description

This book is an archaeological attempt to reconstruct the social existence of photography. It is not just a local history of photography or a history in pictures of Varna from the late 19th century onwards. Like all archaeology, it relies on bits and pieces of the past preserved in prehistoric photographs, unravelling each of their material layers to piece together the puzzle of the emergence, development and flourishing of an artistic craft, at first in the festive but gradually in the everyday life of a city.
