Description

Guillaume Prevost is one of the most famous contemporary French authors of the historical crime novels. His master, The Killer and the Prophet, takes us in the streets of the holy city of Jerusalem at the beginning of the new era.

Arrived from Alexandria to enjoy the gilded doors of the Temple, the young philosopher Phylon is involved in a dangerous and sensational investigation. The active and esteemed Pharisee Jeeptai is found at his home with a scroll stuck in his mouth. It contains an unknown prophecy that warns the Jews of a terrible punishment by the God. The beautiful paralyzed daughter of Jeeptai Virsavia asks Phylon to find the culprit. She suspects the Sadducees. Connected closely with the Temple and the Roman authorities, they would have reasons to eliminate one of their enemies. For more than a century, the Sadducees and Pharisees struggle for power. But the High Priest of the Temple, the Sadducee Gad, is also killed, and in his mouth is the continuation of the prophecy. Phylon goes to the escape shelter to find out more about the warning. There is a terrible third death of a man, who may have known the answer to the mystery.

Perhaps the country expects the Savior to deliver her from the Romans? It won't be a surprise if the killer is looking exactly for him. Will the forces of good succeed in preventing it? You will only find answers on the last pages.
