Description

We are already familiar with the members of the liberal political family. Some of them continue to structure the political space today (the Movement for Rights and Freedoms; National Movement for Stability and Progress) and others have already stepped aside (Radical Democratic Party; etc). With this collection of interviews, we tried to keep the authentic voices" of part of the liberals, who first share their assessments of the transition, of their successes and failures, hopes and disappointments.

With the help of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation, we were able to interview 31 politicians from various liberal "generations". We have not sought a balance between the parties, all of whom have agreed to share their memories of the past with a wider audience. We have not forgotten the representatives of the youth liberal organizations, we also talked to some of the first associates of the Naumann Foundation in Bulgaria.

It can hardly be expected that the interviews published here will speak with one voice. On the contrary, the picture outlined in the talks is colorful, multi-layered and often quite controversial. Twenty years after the changes in Eastern Europe, Bulgarian liberals continue to look for their identity ...
