Andreas Speer

Prof. Dr. Andreas Speer (Düsseldorf, 1957) is one of the leading German philosophers of our time and the most prominent philosopher historians. Since 2004, he is director of Tomas-Institut at the University of Cologne, he has been the author of eight monographs and an impressive array of articles; publisher and co-publisher of ten series and magazines playing a major role in the development of modern philosophy; leader of key German and international scientific institutions; organizer of many sign conferences.

For two decades, he has been intellectually and personally involved with Bulgaria and her culture, actively taking part in it as a lecturer, as author of more than 20 texts, published here as organizer of numerous forums in Bulgaria and co-editor of the Archive for Medieval Philosophy and Culture. Andreas Speer is an honorary doctor of Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski" since 2005.
