The dictionary includes hieroglyphs of the so-called educational minimum, which in its latest revision, approved by the Japanese Ministry of Education, contains 1006 characters. It is intended for anyone who wants to master the basics of Japanese writing. The compiler of the dictionary is Bratislav Ivanov, a long-time professor of Phonetics, Graphics and Lexicology of the Modern Japanese language at Sofia University, and editor - Mami Kojima, a Japanese language teacher at JOCV.
Particular attention is given to the selection of examples illustrating the use of hieroglyphics. The glossary is accompanied by a review article, which summarizes questions about the origin and nature of hieroglyphics, their structure and their role in contemporary Japanese writing. The usual indexes for such editions that make it easier to use the dictionary are also included.
