Venets Dimitrov was born on June 24, 1937 in Sofia, Bulgaria. He graduated from the Film and TV Cinematography at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, Czechoslovakia (1968); he was studying also directing. He is a member of Union of Bulgarian Filmmakers. He received the title "Honored artist" and the Order "Cyril and Methodius"; the order "People's Republic of Bulgaria" (1987). He is a Professor in the National Academy for Theatre and Film Art, Sofia, Bulgaria.
He has won several awards for "Best Operations" by the Union of Bulgarian Film Makers and the National Film Festival "Golden Rose" in Varna.
