Thomas Sowell (b. 1930) is one of the world's most distinguished economists and social philosophers, renowned for prioritizing empirical facts over political rhetoric. Raised in Harlem, New York, he rose from a high school dropout to earning a PhD from the University of Chicago under Nobel laureate Milton Friedman. As a Senior Fellow at Stanford University’s Hoover Institution, Sowell has authored over 45 books translated into dozens of languages. His seminal work, Basic Economics, has sold more than 500,000 copies in English alone, with his total worldwide book sales exceeding 2 million copies. A recipient of the National Humanities Medal (2002), Sowell remains a leading voice in advocating for free-market principles and personal responsibility.
