Todor Hristov received a doctoral degree in Sociology from the Institute for Sociology, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (2006), and yet another doctoral degree in Literary Theory, Sofia University (2002). His Ph.D. work related to the Legitimation of State Authority during the Bulgarian Peasant Riots in 1900. He held research fellowships at the Centre for Advanced Study, Sofia (2002-2003), and the Research Centre in Social Science at Sofia University (2006), and has been the Director of the Institute for Critical Social Studies in Sofia since 2007.
