Priest Angel Velichkov (b. 1964) is a clergyman, publicist, and poet whose life and creative path embody the deep connection between theology, philology, and liturgical ministry. After high school, he received a professional education as a photographer. Later, he graduated from the prestigious St. Sergius Orthodox Theological Institute in Paris. From 1997 to 2002, he served as the editor-in-chief of Tsar koven Vestnik (Church Newspaper) and director of the Synodal Publishing House of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church. He was ordained as a priest in France, where he ministered to the Bulgarian Orthodox community for three years, and since 2005, he has been serving in Stockholm. His fluency in several languages, his spiritual experience rooted in the Patristic tradition, and his interests in contemporary anthropology allow him to offer original and profound interpretations of the Biblical tradition.
The professional path of Father Angel Velichkov is marked by educational and enlightening activities aimed at preserving Orthodox memory, applied within a cross-cultural dialogue. He is a contributor to various Christian publications and platforms, where he publishes essays, analyses, and poetic works distinguished by high linguistic standards and theological precision. As a representative of one of our dioceses abroad, he plays the role of a spiritual bridge between Bulgaria and Western Europe, carrying the traditions of the Paris School of Theology while remaining deeply connected to his native spiritual roots and the Bulgarian language. His prose and poetry are imbued with a contemporary Christian humanism that seeks the living presence of spirituality within the details of everyday life.
