Sarkis Sargsyan

Professor of Philosophical Sciences Sarkis Sargsyan was born in Ruse in 1932 in the family of Armenian exiles. He graduated in "Philosophy" and a second subject "History" at the Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski" in 1957. His scientific career began in October 1960 as an assistant at the Technical University. In 1977 he was elected Professor of Philosophy at the Technical University, where he worked until 1992. He was elected as Head of the Department, Director of the Center and Deputy Rector (three terms of office). He is the initiator and founder of the Armenian Philology and Armenian Studies Department at Sofia University in 1995, where he has taught History of Armenia, Armenian Civilization and History. In 1996, he joined Slavyan University where he worked as Chief Secretary and Deputy Rector until March 10, 1999. In the same year, he was appointed Director of the Center for Training of Students and Graduates of the University of Veliko Tarnovo in Sofia. He was elected an academician at the International Academy of Philosophy in 1994.

He is the author of over 300 scientific publications, 20 monographs, 10 textbooks and many scientific publications in Armenian, English, German, Russian, Polish, Ukrainian, Hungarian and Czech languages.
