Digital Empires and Financial Sovereignty – Public Lecture by Assoc. Prof. Grigor Sariyski
At the beginning of the 21st century, power is measured less and less by territory and more and more by control over data, algorithms, and payment infrastructures. Several tech giants have built supersystems that function as supranational economic spaces with their own rules, standards, and financial flows. In parallel, state institutions serve the increasing influence of these corporations, shifting an ever-larger portion of their inherent functions into their domain. What can we expect in the next stage—a merger or a conflict between the state and "cloud capital"? What will the emerging new economic dependencies look like, and who will benefit from their spread and development? These questions will be answered by Assoc. Prof. Grigor Sariiski—welcome to a discussion-talk on March 22 (Sunday), 2026, at 4:00 PM in the "Sofia" Hall of Grand Hotel Sofia.
