People often define the Korean War as a "forgotten" or "concealed" war. Who remembers what happened on the Korean Peninsula in the 1950s? Why do North Korea and South Korea decide to unite through a fratricidal war rather than at the negotiating table? Why in the countries of the former Socialist bloc it was claimed that South Korea had begun the war while the rest of the world knew the truth that the North Korea started the military action?
This war has continued for three years with variable success for both North and South Korea and their allies: the PRC and the USSR for North Korea and the United Nations - for South Korea. Today it is known that this strange war was in fact not between North and South on the Korean Peninsula, but between the Western and Eastern Bloc, between the two systems that the world was then divided into.
With the Korean War, a number of "local wars" began, which, alas, continue to this day. The wars that bring death and destruction lead to chaos and disorder, that echo everywhere, even in a well-considered Europe. Bulgaria did not participate in the Korean War, but as a member of the Eastern bloc it provides humanitarian aid to North Korea, sending medical teams, welcoming orphans from the DPRK. So our country is contributing to the faster cessation of the bloody clash in East Asia.
This book tells of the Korean War through documents from the Bulgarian archives.
