Prof. Nikolay Slatinski, PhD (b. 1956) is one of Bulgaria's preeminent experts and theorists in the fields of national and international security, crisis management, and strategic planning. With an academic background as a Doctor of Mathematics, he applies a systemic and interdisciplinary approach to his research, establishing himself as an authoritative voice in Bulgarian academia and public discourse. His career distinguishes itself by seamlessly integrating active statesmanship with extensive pedagogical and investigative work.
During the formative years of Bulgaria’s transition to democracy, Prof. Slatinski played a pivotal role as a Member of Parliament in both the Grand National Assembly and the 36th National Assembly. Between 1992 and 1994, he served as Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on National Security, and subsequently held the position of Secretary for National Security to the President of the Republic of Bulgaria (2002–2006). His long-standing academic career is closely associated with the "G. S. Rakovski" National Defence College, Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski," and the University of National and World Economy (UNWE).
