Prof. Dr. Nikola Georgiev is Bulgarian literary critic, structuralist, culturalologist, folklorist, essayist, publicist, public figure.
Nikola Georgiev Georgiev was born on November 24, 1937 in Kazanlak. He graduated from Sofia School (1956) and Bulgarian Philology at the Sofia State University (1961). In 1972, he defended a dissertation on the subject "The Lyric. Develop the concept. Essence ". He is Ph.D. in philological sciences is a dissertation on "The Quote in Fiction Literature" (1995). He became head of the Department of Theory of Literature at the Faculty of Slavic Studies (1991-1995). Prof Georgiev is also a lecturer in Bulgarian Language and Literature at the Universities of Prague, St. Petersburg, Salzburg, Cardiff, London, Kiev, Pennsylvania. He lectures also on general theory of literature and culture, poetics, rhetoric, analysis of literary work, poetry, folklore, Russian literature, literary studies of the XX century. He introduces new trends and approaches in the interpretation of individual works. Prof. Nikola Georgiev's researches have been published in numerous foreign editions - in German, Polish, Slovak, Czech, Serbo-Croatian.
