I wrote this book for all those who do not want to wander in the labyrinth of the neoliberal and communist reinterpretation of our national history, but to find their own way to Bulgaria and its past.
Some present everything in such a way that black becomes at least light grey, if not chalk white. I cannot do it!
In our neighbouring countries the death of anyone threatened because he was not afraid to be Bulgarian is a heroic death in the name of Bulgaria. Many Bulgarians and Bulgarian women could have called themselves Macedonians, Serbs, Greeks, Romanians and stayed alive, but they did not and they gave up their lives.
To call oneself a Bulgarian and to die for it is a feat.
Is Bulgaria to blame for everything that has befallen it since its new appearance on the map of Europe? Are we Bulgarians to blame for everything described in this book?
