The Golden Orpheus was an international song contest, held annually from 1965 to 1999 in Sunny Beach, Bulgaria. Alongside its Bulgarian pop song competition, the festival’s rules and regulations included an international singing contest. The event quickly grew to be one of the most prestigious Eastern European festivals during socialism.
The background of the Golden Orpheus, as well as the post-war Bulgarian pop music, should be sought in the second half of the 50s of the past century. And we must connect it with the construction of the first resorts on our Black Sea coast. (Thanks to the first four S, published in the title of the book, Summer, Sea, Sun, Sand, which were first to God and then to Khan Asparuh and his numerous heirs until 1944). At least in the first two decades of their existence, they accumulate a vast amount of diverse live music, generally perceived as entertaining and dancing. (Here are the sixth and seventh "S" - Song, Stage, and for the fifth - Sex - you'll wait a bit). This is the world trend in the post-war period, which began in 1947 in France.
