Roads through the Orthodox Ritual

This book shows how the rituals of Orthodox Christianity lay the paths that man can pass from birth to death. These roads build a strong and highly sustainable structure that ensures the preservation and transfer of essential information to the community over time - both in the diachronic line of historical time and in the tiny, twisty and suddenly interrupting individual time of every person.

We live in a time when these communication systems long ago have lost their role as the sole and universal bearers of tradition; when the very value of this tradition and the meaning of its conservation are questioned. The modern world offers many alternative ways of moving from the cradle to the grave, some of which do not necessarily involve religion. What's more - for many, the old-fashioned routes of the church ritual are only grounds for rejection, outlining the "ways we will never go!". But even in this case, we can not fail to admit that even today, these ancient roads provide our contemporaries with the soothing feeling that they can always go on one of its many branches.
