Ето прецизния превод на текста на английски език, последван от мета описания за книгата:

Orientalism is a book that radically transformed humanistic thought and subjected the stereotypes used by politicians and journalists to devastating criticism. Edward Said examines in detail how the West perceives the East, asking a series of difficult yet crucial questions:

  • How do we perceive other cultures?

  • Does the notion of a different culture (or race, religion, civilization) lead us into the mire of self-complacency, hostility, and aggression?

  • How do ideas gain authority and the status of "natural truths"?

  • What is the role of the intellectual?

  • Is independent critical self-awareness possible?

This new, expanded edition of Said's classic work also includes: a new 2024 preface by Ussama Makdisi, Said's 2003 preface commemorating the 25th anniversary of the first edition, and Said's 1994 afterword.
