Hristo Botev (1848-1876), born Hristo Botyov Petkov, was a Bulgarian poet and national revolutionary. Botev is widely considered by Bulgarians to be a symbolic historical figure and national hero.

This book mainly differs from the dozens of monographs published by the researchers of the life, revolutionary activity and the work of Hristo Botev. In the search for the facts about his life are mainly used the works of his first biographer Zahari Stoyanov, Prof. Alexander Burmov, Prof. M. Dimitrov, Prof. Ivan Ungiev and Ts. Undzieva, and most of all, the monumental work of Prof. Stefan Karakostov.

Botev's brilliant poetry, his revolutionary activity and his sacrifice for the liberation of Bulgaria have already made his personality into a myth and he remains to this day, 130 years after his death, alongside Vasil Levski, an ideal for Bulgarians of all generations.
