Drawing on his rich psychotherapeutic experience, Hans Jellouschek translates the famous Brothers Grimm fairy tale "The Frog Prince" into psychological language in a vivid and accessible way. In it, he discovers both a common partner configuration ("princess woman" and "frog man") and "something fundamental regarding relationship conflicts and the meaning of relationships in general." The author traces the couple's journey, which begins under the motto "I love you because I need you" and reaches mature love, where "I need you because I love you."

The Russian fairy tale "The Frog Princess" impresses the author not only with the inverted distribution of roles ("frog woman" and "prince man"), but also with the depth and richness of the Eastern spiritual world, from which the Western mind can learn a great deal. According to him, here "opposites are not starkly polarized. The witch is not solely evil, the princess is not purely wonderful, and the hero is not just brave. Men are not so one-dimensionally masculine, and women, though it may not seem so at first glance, stand beside them strong and equal, sometimes even significantly surpassing them."

For the Bulgarian reader, positioned in the spiritual space between East and West, it will surely be curious and exciting to follow and compare the fairy-tale development of enchanted princes and princesses in the labyrinth of love. However different they may be, ultimately both fairy tales present the path to maturity for men and women—a path that remains an individual responsibility, yet can only succeed as a shared process. Both stories convey and show that "we will succeed only together, not against each other."
