Galab Cherpokov was born on October 14, 1934, in the village of Orehovo, Chepelare Municipality, Smolyan Province. He graduated from the Higher Institute of National Economy in Varna in 1958. He dedicated his life to working in international commercial tourism: 24 years under a centralized market economy and another 24 years within a free market economy as the head of the private tourist company "Vegena" Ltd. He held management positions within the systems of "Balkanturist" and the "Interhotels" Tourist Complex; he also served as director of the tourist companies "Translitextours" in Beirut, Lebanon, and "Balkan Holidays" in Zurich, Switzerland. He is the author of the books "Around the World and at Home", "Tourism in the Village of Orehovo", and "At Home and Around the World", in which he shares his experience and memories from a life spent in tourism.
He and his wife, Vasilka, have two daughters and three grandchildren—Alex, Antim, and Annabelle.
