The book is an attempt to give a comprehensive overview of the relations between Bulgaria and Japan since their origin more than a century ago and is the work of two generations of Japanese and Japanese-Bulgarian specialists. Having passed the trials of time - from the troubled years of World War II, the subsequent Cold War confrontation and Bulgaria's transition to democracy and market economy - today the Bulgarian-Japanese relations are based on traditional friendship and equal partnership. They are an example of how mutual interest and desire for understanding and rapprochement between people in both countries combined with a pragmatic, well-intentioned and forward-looking state-based approach create the ground for continuity and consistency in building and developing bilateral contacts and exchanges at different levels in a dynamic evolving geopolitical realities in the world today.
