Prof. Dimitar Avramov (1925 - 2008) is among the most erudite Bulgarian art critics. Born in Burgas. He graduated in philosophy at Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski" (1954). He has been an editor in the "Philosophical Thought" magazine (1955-1960) and Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the "Art Problems" magazine (1968-1980). Research Fellow at the Institute of Art Studies and the Institute of Literature at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. He is also an Associate Professor on the history of the new Bulgarian culture at Sofia University. Author of a number of studies and articles on art and literature issues, monographs for artists. Among his most significant works are "Aesthetics of Modern Art", "Bulgarian Art and Modernism", "Charles Baudelaire", "Chronicle of a Dramatic Decade", the collection "Dialogue between Two Arts" and others.
