Dale F. Eickelman, Ph.D. is a Professor of Anthropology and Human Relations at Dartmouth College. He was born in 1942 in Evergreen Park, Ill., USA. He studied Anthropology and Islamic Studies at Dartmouth College, McGill University, and University of Chicago.
His areas of expertise are anthropological theory and complex societies, the anthropology of Islam and the Middle East, orality and literacy, political authority, legitimacy and power, religions and politics in the Middle East and Central Asia, secrecy and deception and Higher education in the Arab world.
