New Economic Sociology

The economy has a central role in the social action. The increasing interest in its sociological examination is explained not least by the close link between economic, political and other crisis social conditions. The boom of the new economic sociology, born in the United States in the 1980s, in opposition to the old American tradition, reflects public and scientific interest through multiple research prospects.

This book focuses on the two central approaches to the discipline: networking and the one related to the neo-institutionalism. By introducing into their conceptual frameworks and conceptual apparatus, the book reconstructs the origin of the new economic sociology and the main topics and debates within it. It is designed for students, faculty and specialists in sociology and other social sciences as well as for all those interested in sociological explanations of economic life.
