Academician Alexander Nikolov Bojinov (1878-1968) is a famous Bulgarian cartoonist, illustrator, painter, stage designer. Creator of the contemporary modern Bulgarian cartoon, characterized by an extraordinary master line and witty text.
The most meaningful and highlighted part of his work is his cartoons against Ferdinand's private regime, ridiculing the political struggles of the acting parties. His landscapes and scenes in the city life are also known, as well as his specific style in scenography in the National Theater. He has also illustrated many books for children. Author of the positive typical heroes of the Bulgarian villagers: Pijo and Pendo.
