Mark Twain's love of animals is well-known - they are an integral part of his work, becoming increasingly important as time goes on. Moreover, in the last years of his life, the great writer - one of the most prominent animal rights advocates of his era - produced several works in which they are not only the protagonists, but also narrate events through their own eyes. These are the two works that we offer you for the first time in Bulgarian in this volume - the novella "The Story of a Horse" and the short story "The Story of a Dog". In the former, the main character is the legendary Buffalo Bill's horse, and in the latter - a brave dog who risks his life to save his owners' child. In both, the central theme is the relationship between humans and animals, presented with the inimitable satirical humor of the "father of American literature".
