This work is the second part of the book Old Bulgarian Art: The Art of the First Bulgarian Kingdom ".
Architecture, painting (frescoes and icon painting), goldsmithing and sculpture at the time when Bulgaria is under Byzantine rule are presented; the socio-historical conditions for the development of the Bulgarian art during the Second Bulgarian Kingdom, the architecture (urban planning and military architecture, churches and monasteries); painting (Turnovo School, Boyana Church).<
The idea of the author was that the book should cover all parts of our art until the fall of the Bulgarian people under the Ottoman rule; But Prof. Mavrodinov did not manage to finish it. His last words after the first attack of the disease were: "Zlatarski did not write the story of XIV century, Mutafchiev did not complete the XIV century and I will not finish the XIV c. also."
This work is a valuable reference book, contains numerous illustrations of examples of Old Bulgarian art, as well as the architectural plans of the churches that have been studied.
