Description

The book explores the historical evolution and contemporary features of the state-political system and the neutrality of Switzerland, which has long become a symbol of a democratic and peaceful country. Swiss development is based on the same principles as in other democratic countries - political pluralism, rule of law, observance of fundamental human rights and freedoms, separation of powers, developed civil society. At the same time, it has a specific outlook due to the important role of referendum and other forms of direct democracy in state governance, as well as to the neutral status announced almost five centuries ago, with the country's reluctance to engage in military conflicts. Referendums and neutrality are the main elements of the "Swiss model" that has created the conditions for the amazing progress achieved in all areas and the active policy of peace, cooperation and solidarity in international relations conducted by Switzerland.
