The main thrust of the several lectures on the philosophy of science, collected in a book, is to highlight the specific contributions of Karl Popper - the father of Critical rationalism - to this field of philosophical research. The topics discussed concern the Demarcation problem, the Scientific method and Scientific theory, the dynamics of scientific development. Particular emphasis is placed on the subject related to the values and the ethical issues of science involving Weber's idea of value-free science. The content of the lectures is revealed in a historical context, allowing, together with Popper’s views, to present the views of his followers like Lakatos, but also of his opponents and critics like Kuhn, Feyerabend and Quine.
