The book is dedicated to the anatomy of man, its long and dramatic history, and the people who made it to progress. Its publication fills a gap in the Bulgarian anatomical literature.
The book consists of three parts. The first part chronologically traces the development of anatomy from prehistoric times to the scientific and technological revolution of the nineteenth century. Its decisive role in the advancement of medicine, surgery, modern imaging diagnostic methods and its importance are presented.
The second part presents biographical portraits of forty anatomists - once very famous but now forgotten as their names are not associated with the discovery of certain anatomical structures.
The third part of the book discusses the future of macroscopic and clinical anatomy with all its aspects and prospects for its development and study in the 21st century.
