Vivian Ling is a long-time professor of Chinese language and literature at Oberlin College and Indiana University. She has served as the director of language programs in Taipei, Shanghai, Kunming, and Beijing. She is the author of numerous books, including The Field of Chinese Language Education in the U.S.: A Retrospective of the 20th Century. Additionally, she has co-authored several books with Wang Peng, such as Essential Mandarin Chinese Grammar, Chinese Stories for Language Learners, A Bilingual Treasury of Chinese Folktales, and The Twelve Animals of the Chinese Zodiac.
Wang Peng has been a member of the faculty at Georgetown University since 2002, where she teaches Chinese language courses at various levels. Previously, she was a senior instructor in the Inter-University Program for Chinese Language Studies at Tsinghua University and has also held positions at Oberlin College and Brown University. This is her fifth book co-authored with Vivian Ling.
